(pharmacology) A benzodiazepine (trademark Dalmane) that is closely related structurally to diazepam and is used as a hypnotic in the form of its dihydrochloride C₂₁H₂₃ClFN₃O·2HCl to treat insomnia and to induce periods of restful sleep.
